Trump CNN town hall: Key takeaways

Just a day after he was found liable for sexual abuse, CNN gave Donald Trump a primetime spotlight to attack the woman he assaulted, promote false claims the 2020 election was rigged, insist it was okay to “grab women by the pussy,” and celebrate January 6th.

All in a day’s work for the famously “liberal” media.

What stands out to me from this event isn’t the crassness of Donald Trump, nor the fact that his 2024 Presidential Campaign will be far more extreme than his previous runs. Rather, what is most important to call out is the systemic failings of our media institutions. The town hall didn’t lead to hard-hitting questions or help Americans to be better informed for the inevitable matchup of Trump v. Biden II. All it did was make CNN money, enable attacks on a sexual assault survivor, and platform a Fascist.
