Denver Folks! Join Me At DSA's Upcoming Labor Panel
I'll be facilitating a panel of all-star labor organizers and workers.
If you’re in Colorado, come join me this Sunday for Denver DSA’s panel discussion on the many efforts to build worker power across the Centennial State. In addition to local workers who will share their organizing stories, we’ll be joined by Former Colorado Representative Tim Hernández and DSA founding member Jose La Luz.
Tim Hernández led the fight to pass the landmark Agricultural Workers’ Rights Bill in 2021. As the Colorado legislature rolls back these protections, such as forcing farm workers to work 56 hours a week before qualifying for overtime, Tim will be sharing how workers are organizing to stay safe and protected.
A longtime veteran of the labor struggle, it’s an honor to host Jose La Luz. From organizing against the Vietnam War to winning collective bargaining rights for over 120,000 public sector workers in Puerto Rico, La Luz has done it all. He’ll be sharing the lessons learned from organizing under colonialism and other forms of repression.
As well as discussing ongoing organizing efforts here in Colorado, we’ll discuss how to build progressive, democratic unions that stand up to ICE, oppose imperialism, and give voice to the unheard working-class.
I’m honored to be hosting this panel. Will I do well? Will I fall on my face and embarrass myself? There’s only one way to find out. Come join us this Sunday, May 10th, at the Washington Street Community Center — 809 S Washington St, Denver, CO 80209.
See you there!
In Solidarity — Joe

I should mention it's at 5 pm.
