[In Jacobin] Rein in Sports-Betting Profiteers
Sports gambling is fun, but the industry is in dire need of oversight.
As we pass the 5-year anniversary of legalized American sports gambling, I wrote for Jacobin about the impacts of the rapid popularization of gambling and what steps need to be taken to regulate the industry. While sports gambling can be a fun and thrilling hobby (I’m a gambler myself), like any other vice, its downsides disproportionately harm the working class.
