Kaepernick certainly lost his career because of his beliefs, but I don't think that's a reason not to do it. I also think things are much different post-2020, i.e. Goodell saying "we owe Colin an apology."
Some people are willing to put it all on the line and he did. He stood for something bigger and has had many other opportunities outside sports.
