"The difference between younger and left-leaning Americans who don’t fear the Chinese boogeyman and the center, right, and older Americans who do" Um, can we make that some older Americans? Or maybe, center, right, liberals or all ages?
There are some of us in that "older" category who remember very clearly, that US oppression didn't just begin with The PATRIOT Act, and can actually recall Joseph McCarthy, Roy Cohn, HUAC, and the Senate's Permanent Subcommittee on Investigations, The Black Panthers, George Jackson, and Fred Hampton, AIM and Leonard Peltier, still in prison, after all these decades. We know that before those I just listed were the infamous Palmer Raids, Sacco and Vanzetti, the Rosenbergs. The list of those whose lives have been destroyed in the name of Manifest Destiny is endless, unfortunately, most Americans don't know this now, because they didn't hear about it then. They never learned about what the US government was actually doing. Looks like things are changing when it comes to what the populace can and cannot be allowed to learn.
Spot on. I sure didn't mean to imply all older Americans were susceptible to this, just that older people tend to get more conservative as they age, so their politics leads them closer to the ruling class. Plus, many of them lived through the Cold War, and the propaganda effects are still lingering. Good for you for not falling for it!
I'm with you about the older people having memories of a must longer list of government offenses conveniently lost to history. I feel we must memorialize this information for the younger people. Our government's historical abuses serve as a marker and resource of education for generations to come to stop this from continuing. When I was a kid during Vietnam I dreamed of a peace filled future of worldwide coexistence... Not what we've got now 😢 ☮️✌️❤️
Appreciate the info on Haim Rubinstein. I was unaware of the coverup of the almost immediate Hamas hostage release/exchange offer. Though I'm not surprised at the offer, the lack of publicity about it, or the rejection of it.
Can you provide any source for these opinions: "Now that Donald Trump has strong-armed Netanyahu into accepting a deal..." or this one: "For months, we were told that wasn’t possible. Well, Trump just did it, so it clearly was." Donald Trump didn't do anything. Someone he is nominating to his administration tagged along on the last day of several months of negotiations so they could be in the room since he will have to enforce it. Donny claimed credit because that's what he does. Why do you believe him?
Or especially this weak opinion based on what is most likely either a coincidence or Benji Netanyahu just giving in to screw over Biden: "There’s no longer any doubt Joe Biden could have ended Israel’s attacks long ago. The current ceasefire came to be after Donald Trump, not even in office, sent his Middle East envoy, Steve Witkoff, to tell Netanyahu the war was done." BS.
I know this column is 100% your opinion, but throwing in asides like this is lazy. Obviously, you see this occurrence as confirming your prior held opinion that the genocide in Gaza aided by US weapons lost Harris the election, but that doesn't mean you need to give credit to Donny Fatass where it isn't due. You can do better than this.
I don't see how one can deny Trump was a factor. The ceasefire came after his team met with Netanyahu, and Biden made it clear he wouldn't pressure Israel for a ceasefire. I despise Trump as much as any leftist/liberal, but we should still analyze politics objectively. I don't think he's any sort of peacemaker, only self-concerned and saw how much the conflict damaged the previous administration.
I do think the fact that Trump has lifted the freeze on the 2k lb bombs the US was sending to Israel and the Israeli ambassador to the US has indicated that he'll lift the sanctions on the individual Israeli settlers who attacked Palestinians in the West Bank suggests that Trump pushed a ceasefire through at least in part by sweetening the deal for Netanyahu and co by rolling back even the minimal political and economic consequences the US imposed on Israel, not just by using more force/pressure. Obviously none of that changes or excuses Biden taking a horrifically cowardly posture with Israel and failing to bring the full extent of the influence the US has to push Israel to comply with a ceasefire. I'm just not completely convinced that's what Trump did either. You’re indoctrination runs deep. I’m not a fan of Trump whatsoever, but for you to act like this is a result of the Biden regime, is asinine. There is probably a much more heinous plan under way right now I’m sure. The truth is, Biden/Blinken didn’t work towards a ceasefire, nor did they want one. Both of them got up on stage and lied until the bitter end. I understand the hate of Trump, but the democrats deserve no less hate. Both parties are enemies of the people. Until you realize this, you’re just another zombie that falls for the divide and conquer game, every time. There is no legitimate reason for you deny what the Biden regime did. Wake up!!
I just want to send my appreciation to you, not only for your in-depth reporting, but also your calm, information-based replies to these comments. I believe we have to learn to listen and communicate much more skillfully if we want change. And the tone in your replies inspires me.

It's the USA government that lies about everything just like the zionist military occupational forces in PALESTINE

Sure. I cited this article (https://www.timesofisrael.com/arab-official-trump-envoy-swayed-netanyahu-more-in-one-meeting-than-biden-did-all-year/), but there's plenty more. I'll point you to drop site as well: https://www.dropsitenews.com/p/trump-israel-hamas-gaza-ceasefire-deal

I've written extensively about Biden's culpability in the Gazan genocide. I certainly wasn't excusing him.

Thanks, Trisha! I'm glad to hear that. It's a skill I've had to develop, so it's nice to hear my efforts aren't in vain.
Maybe you should read more of Joe's body of work before flinging meaningless spittle like "zombie", etc. in his comment section.
You're not more specially "awake" than any of us, despite what your inbuilt superiority complex tells you.
Sheer opportunism at the core. It's part of what defines him, it DOES define him.
