Bet you the British wanted the American Colonists to "follow the law" and "play nice" too.... In 1968 I marched and we kept 30k students, migrants, and citizens from any violence. We made the news front page the next day,,,, then not a single change happened.

Did you note the Police officer who was caught on film firing a rubber bullet, close range, on purpose, and hitting the Australian woman with the press? That's ASSAULT!

That was one of the most terrifying things I've seen. The cop knew he was on camera and did it anyway, because he knows there won't be consequences.

Someone paid attention during their IDF training. White Press in the leg, Brown Press in the heart.

Also the WelcomeFest thing is genuinely hilarious. They actually thought that the way they steal the thunder and image of the socdem brand of the Dems is… PowerPoint presentations

You just need to tell them they’re wrong and surely they’ll just vote harder

It’s helpful to remember the men’s wear Twitter guy had the most embarrassing fistfight of all time with a guy outside of Uniqlo, his opinion can be discarded as such.

I just can’t with these people who talk about MLK Jr like he wouldn’t have been the first person standing between ICE and an immigrant. “Non-violent” doesn’t mean sitting at home and writing a letter to your Senator. It means not being the Weather Underground. (Contraband Camp had a piece about this I think yesterday?)

His approach to non-violence was much more tactical than philosophical. One reporter described MLK's house as an armory, with guns by every door. He wasn't going to sit back and let people hurt him!

It’s very much a myth white people tell themselves. Same with white people talking about how walking around with a sign is “good trouble” — do they realize what happened to John Lewis?

These people wanting to police how protesters need to act drives me up the wall. Americans are so propagandized including big parts of the more socdem factions.

Exactly. We lost the election and now it is a no win situation for us. Which is a damn shame because this Insane Clown madman was eminently and easily beatable with so much surface area for attack. But attack is not a concept known to Democrats. And so they sent Kamala out to be a joyous pom pom waving Barbie Doll to fight this Insane Clown madman. But if there is one thing voters want less as president than a madman it is a Barbie Doll. Any show of strength from Kamala and she would have won. But she just smiled and waved and smiled some more and waved some more while Insane Clown showered her with abuse. Damn shame.

I think the most trenchant objections raised by those on the left have to do with the tactics and messaging. Waving Mexican flags sends a message that the protesters that they have an affinity/allegiance to Mexico. The most natural interpretation of this by the right is "Fine, send them back!" which is what ICE is trying to do. A much better response would be to display the American flag, signifying that you feel that America is your home, you love it, and want to stay in it. Those who want to be provocative could fly the Gadsden flag.

Violence and property damage is *very much the wrong move*. For God's sake, you are dealing with Donald Trump. not Lyndon Johnson---READ THE ROOM.

The majority of the "right way to protest" people (besides being mostly white) always invoke the thoughts of bystanders to bash these calls for justice. "The protest is to make the mother that is walking by to care about your cause" How many time of this and how many stories of discrimination and abuse had happened and they still don't care? Week by week people of people kidnapped in school and courtrooms and they can't be bothered to see things how they are yet. People telling to act politely for them just want to make it easier for them to ignore everything, when they tell you to behave or act nicer don't ask them "how would you do it?" ask them "have you talked to these people before or tried to make their voices reach out farther before they had to get to this point?"

The riots are bait for right wing media and do not help the progressive cause . People need to listen to Federman and realize that the violence is kind of counterproductive 😎
