Thanks for covering this. I feel what's happening now is closer to genocide than anything that's happened in a while. Over 7000 Palestinians dead in a week? Sounds systematic to me. And it's a tragedy that it's happening because of someone's abnormal psychology -- they simply haven't dealt with the wounds of the past, so it seems. Becoming the perpetrator doesn't help. Better to heal the mindset that gave rise to the problems in the first place.
Hey Joe, I am interested in how you come to the conclusions you do with these videos. The Ambassador said that their war was with Gaza, I may be wrong but that is a place not a people. He also said that people can leave Gaza if they want which suggests that their intent is not to kill the people for the sake of killing them. The video of the soldier saying the war is with the citizens, the context of that is him saying that the citizens are also killing people, not saying that Israel just kill citizens cuz they like it. Idk if Israel is in the right but I don’t see how interpret these interviews to mean what you are saying they do.
Great questions! When the Ambassador says they want to "destroy Gaza" this is an admission of intending to eradicate the people who live there. (The city's infrastructure isn't what Israel wants to destroy, but the Gazans themselves.) The reason this is so stark is that previously, American and Israeli officials claimed Israel was trying to "destroy Hamas, not Gaza." When the ambassador said this, he admitted that the intent was to eradicate Gazans, whether or not they were active Hamas militants.
Additionally, an active Israeli minister was even more clear in stating Israel's genocidial intent. In this view, Avi Dichter states that Israel is rolling out the "Gazan Nakba," a reference to the original ethnic cleansing that happened at Israel's founding. Given all this, we can conclude that the Israeli state has a clear goal, which satisfies the treaty's intent clause.
The Ambassador is a serial liar. He has said on more than one occasion that "there is no humanitarian crisis in Gaza." And Gazans have NEVER been able to simply "leave." They have not had freedom of movement in and out of the territory for decades. Another lie is that Israel is "doing all it can to avoid civilian casualties." With 11,500 dead so far, I'd really hate to see what it would look like if they were NOT trying to avoid civilian casualties.
Israel must think the world is populated by brainless morons based on the lies that have been coming out of the Netanyahu administration over the past few weeks. Frankly, it's highly insulting the way they have been lying about virtually everything related to the Gaza Turkey Shoot (this is certainly not a "war").
It needs to be restated that Gazans can't leave Gaza, even before the recent attacks. All exist were controlled by Egypt and Israel, and Gazans had to apply to leave. They were often rejected for dubious reasons.
When you consider a certain population "human animals," genocide can't be too far behind. And Israel is clearly guilty of all five of the conditions listed above. What is even more disgraceful is that our president and Congress have as much blood on their hands as the Israelis--not only by what they are not doing, but what they are: falling over one another to "stand with Israel" by sending more weapons to be used against a captive civilian population. Get ready for the blowback.
Sorry Frank, I'm just seeing your comment now. I think you're spot on about the potential for blowback. Americans need to realize that our government is endangering us by making us all complicit in this heinous act. The whole world sees we're supporting the assault on Gaza. It's highly likely someone will attack American citizens as a result.
Yes, exactly. Americans might as well be pulling triggers and manning the artillery batteries pounding Gaza. What really galls me is that we could end the war today by cutting off all aid and weapons, but our morally bankrupt Congress and president would never think of doing that to our "closest ally."

Thank you for your kind words, Laura. I agree. It really is a systemic initiative to attack Gaza — a very clear attempt at genocide.
Yes, with a huge backlash. 1000 Palestinians killed per day would be like 340,000 Americans killed per day proportionally -- totally CRAZY.
I never thought of it like that. That's a heartbreaking statistic.

It is genocide. The U.S. needs to stop supporting this, now!
