Grok Goes 'MechaH*tler,' Promotes Cultural Marxism, Becomes a Typical Republican
Horrendous, but nothing new for the GOP.
I’m particular about how I use the term ‘Nazi.’ I try not to water it down with overuse. Not because prominent contemporary rightists don’t deserve the label’s social stigma (they do) or hold fascist beliefs (again, they do), but because there are surviving aspects of German National Socialism that need to be accurately labelled so they can be understood, countered, and defeated. Diluting the term makes that more difficult, so I try not to cast the label flippantly. So, when I say Elon Musk is spreading Nazi propaganda, please know I mean exactly what I said.
While most people spent July 4th with their friends and family, Musk used the holiday to ‘significantly improve’ Grok, the AI bot on Twitter/X.1
Immediately following Elon’s update, Grok began an anti-Semitic tirade. It accused Ashkenazi Jews of celebrating the flooding deaths in Texas and promoting anti-White hate (not a thing), then suggested Adolf Hitler was ‘best suited’ to ‘deal’ with them.

While the above responses are abhorrent, they’re the standard trash edge lords post on 4chan boards and incel subreddits — ‘Trump is KING and feminists are FAT! Triggered?!?” This is not to excuse Musk, of course. But none of these troubled me as much as the below comment, which claimed that Jews were purposefully undermining American society by promoting diversity and anti-White racism through Hollywood. While this might seem like one of the tamer Grok responses, what makes this statement so troubling is that it is, quite literally, the propaganda of the German Nazi Party circa 1933.
Fascism has many variations, but they all share a central premise: being a reaction to socialism. In early 20th-century Europe, after capitalism and its cousin, imperialism, had ravaged the continent in what we now call World War I, fascists rose to power in Italy, Germany, and Spain as a capital-backed alternative to the revolutionary socialism of Vladimir Lenin and the Russian Bolsheviks. Positioning himself as the only one able to stop Germany from going red, Hitler gained the favor of the capitalist and political class, took power, and violently repressed the left. (German communists and socialists were the inaugural prisoners in Dachau, the first Nazi death camp.2) As the designs of Nazism sought much more than stopping a Bolshevik-style revolution, they needed an excuse to persecute Jews with the same militancy as Marxists. To do so, the party promoted Hitler’s conspiracy theory of “Judeo-Bolshevism,”3 sometimes called “Cultural Bolshevism,”4 which claimed Jews were undermining German society by sneaking ‘Marxism’ into popular culture. Books promoting feminism, plays about workers’ struggles, and academies questioning traditional gender norms were deemed equally as dangerous to ‘German society’ (capital) as an armed proletariat marching on the Reichstag. Having cast the average Jewish German as no different from communist revolutionaries, there was little pushback when both were pressed into boxcars and sent to the camps.
This is what makes Elon Musk’s recent directives to Grok so disturbing. He didn’t just tell the bot to call itself ‘MechaHitler’5 to trigger the libs — he programmed it to promote the Nazi conspiracy theory that was the ideological basis for the Holocaust. Specifically, the programming directed Grok to espouse a variation of the Cultural Bolshevism conspiracy theory called ‘Cultural Marxism.’ An American variant, the Cultural Marxism theory claims that Jews fleeing Nazi persecution brought their subversive activity to America. From the Southern Poverty Law Center:
‘In a nutshell, the [Cultural Marxism] theory posits that a tiny group of Jewish philosophers who fled Germany in the 1930s and set up shop at Columbia University in New York City devised an unorthodox form of “Marxism” that aimed at American society’s culture, rather than its economic system.
The theory holds that these self-interested Jews — the so-called “Frankfurt School” of philosophers — planned to try to convince mainstream Americans that white ethnic pride is bad, that sexual liberation is good, and that supposedly traditional American values — Christianity, “family values,” and so on — are reactionary and bigoted. With their core values thus subverted, the theory goes, Americans would be quick to sign on to the ideas of the far left.’6
Past and present, the Cultural Marxism theory melds with the other hallucinogenic thoughts of right-wing dipshits. The Great Replacement theory, obsessions over malicious Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion programs, and White Genocide (especially in South Africa), all center a thesis that leftist Jews are undermining America’s White, Christian society through secret Marxism. And as sadistic as Musk is, he’s not the one to bring this vileness into modern conservatism. The Cultural Marxist conspiracy theory and its variants — obsession over political correctness, wokeism, DEI, and other boogeymen that haunt boomers’ dreams — are the standard operating procedure of the Republican Party. Perhaps the most vocal proponent of it is Florida Governor and close friend to Elon Musk, Ron DeSantis, who sounds like a verbatim recording of Josef Goebbels.
‘What you see now with the rise of this woke ideology is an attempt to really delegitimize our history and to delegitimize our institutions, and I view the wokeness as a form of Cultural Marxism. They really want to tear at the fabric of our society.’7
(I wonder who the ‘they’ is!)
Pat Buchanan, an advisor to presidents Ford, Reagan, and H.W. Bush, openly used the phrase Cultural Marxism, as does Jordan Peterson during the few waking moments he’s not crying.8 Then, of course, there’s Ron Paul, the world’s least racist libertarian.
Ben Shapiro has built a career rambling against Cultural Marxism, which might seem peculiar considering Shapiro is Jewish. However, Shapiro subscribes to a slightly modified version of the theory, called the Breitbart Doctrine. Named after Shapiro’s mentor, Andrew Breitbart, the Doctrine unsuccessfully attempts to sanitize the antisemitic conspiracy theory by removing the emphasis on ‘Jewish control of the media’ and replacing it with ‘leftist control.’ The Doctrine claims that Americans are only interested in left-wing politics (i.e., the neoliberal centrism of President Bill Clinton) because culture primed them for it. Of course, that culture wasn’t a natural occurrence, but the intentional product of nefarious Hollywood architects.
‘The Breitbart Doctrine [argues] that if you want to change politics, you first have to change culture because politics flows from culture… So, if you want to change politics, you first have to change people to change culture.” — Cambridge Analytica whistleblower Chris Wylie9
This is why Shapiro has prioritized entertainment throughout his career. He believes that if Americans had access to non-leftist entertainment, they’d ignore the radical Marxism of Kamala Harris and return to the reasonable, well-tempered politics of Ted Cruz. This belief drove Shapiro to focus on entertainment throughout his career (he’s a failed screenwriter), and he even launched an entertainment division for his outlet, The Daily Wire, which went bankrupt making shitty Westerns and cartoon kids shows with ‘conservative values.’10 Of course, Breitbart and Shapiro’s attempt to sell a non-anti-Semitic version of the Cultural Marxism theory to the American right has failed. To promote his book on the subject, Primetime Propaganda: The True Hollywood Story of How the Left Took Over Your TV, Shapiro went on the Red Ice podcast called Radio 3Fourteen.11 Red Ice is an actual Neo-Nazis outlet that has been kicked off every social media platform,12 and the name ‘3Fourteen’ has certain… connotations.
Unsurprisingly, Ben Shapiro attempt to remove the Nazism from a Nazi conspiracy theory didn’t work. The conversation is cringe-inducing and, honestly, really embarrassing for Shapiro. The host keeps bringing up the ‘disproportionate amount of Jews in Hollywood,’ and Shapiro responds by claiming Hollywood Jews are not ‘real Jews’ because they vote Democrat, to which she laughs and calls them Jews. Much like Shapiro’s career of promoting the anti-semitic conspiracy theory, the whole thing is gross.
There’s been much justified examination of Elon Musk’s fondness for Nazis since he joined the Trump administration. The second Trump presidency started with his Seig Heil salute, and he attended a conference of the rightist AfD Party two days before Holocaust Remembrance Day, telling them to ‘forget about Germany’s past guilt.’13 Now that he’s programmed his website to espouse literal Nazi propaganda (as well as provide detailed instructions on how to rape political pundits14) there’s no longer any debate about Musk’s egregious politics. While I hope he is rightfully condemned for his beliefs, the only difference between Elon Musk and the typical Republican spokesperson is that the billionaire is dumb enough to say the quiet part out loud. Fascism, Nazism, and its beliefs like Cultural Marxism are a core tenet of modern American conservatism. That’s a problem that predates the MAGA movement and will likely outlive it. Much like Donald Trump, Nazi-loving Elon Musk is a symptom, and the Republican Party is the disease. Until the cause is cured, the effects will worsen.

James Lindsay too. One of the worst cultural Marxism people out there. He’s coming to New Zealand this weekend as the keynote speaker for our libertarian party’s annual meeting.
A clear-eyed and well-written analysis of the troubling current state of the fascist movement in America.
