I’m happy to say that bill passed and is now law. I wrote about the bill and the larger problem of wage theft in Westword, a local magazine here in Denver. You can read it by clicking the link below.
As wage theft is a problem faced by workers around the world, I’d encourage you to read it even if you don’t live in Colorado.
This is such a pervasive problem, that I wonder if people even "see" it anymore? I'm thinking of (relatively) less egregious offenses like working through a lunch. We have exclusive lunch periods at my company, and a coworker was disciplined for leaving company property while on his assigned break. Luckily, that was resolved FAST in his favor, but the reactions people had to it all were telling.
