This is such a pervasive problem, that I wonder if people even "see" it anymore? I'm thinking of (relatively) less egregious offenses like working through a lunch. We have exclusive lunch periods at my company, and a coworker was disciplined for leaving company property while on his assigned break. Luckily, that was resolved FAST in his favor, but the reactions people had to it all were telling.

It really is something that goes undiscussed, and therefore unnoticed. I can think of so many times I heard people say "my boss is making me work late again," as if it was like a mother asking a child to clean their room, when in actuality its a crime. Hopefully, laws such as this will raise awareness and people will start to realize that they shouldn't be mistreated.

We should be so lucky! In the example I mentioned, the company even has extant policies covering this, and people were STILL afraid to do anything until it came to head with the coworker I mentioned.

Same with working through lunch, or having your break interrupted. Both of those happen from time to time, and there are policies offering recourse for either (you can get paid for that time, or leave :30 early with full pay), but people still sweat it. I don't get it.
