Thanks for a great March everyone! The numbers were steady, and the conversation and discussions we had were well-appreciated. Here's to a great April!

I would love to hear what you have to say about right-to-work in general, and Michigan’s reversal of it.

Great question!

On their most basic level, so-called "Right to Work Laws" are an affront to the very nature of democracy. When a shop votes to unionize, they allow some workers to opt out of the union. This is like saying that if my state voted on something, and I didn't like the result of the vote, I would simply "opt out" and the new rules wouldn't apply to me. Obviously, this is ridiculous.

On a deeper level, RTWLs are an attempt to union-bust without having to jump through the hoops and ladders. It's human nature to want to receive the benefits of a union without having to pay the dues, so their mere existence incentivizes workers to not pay dues, which weakens unions and all workers.

Michigan's repeal of them was awesome! Good on Gretchen Whitmer and all the workers who fought for their repeal!
