I wonder , does your generational cohort in the DSA , read any books by Michael Harrington, or has he been consigned to the dustbin of history , Trotsky consigned Martov and the Mensheviks to in 1917?

https://archive.org/details/socialismpastfut00harr , https://archive.org/details/socialism00harr . Insofar as he is, is it mainly , indirectly , via critical polemics such as https://www.collectiveinkbooks.com/zer0-books/our-books/failure-vision-michael-harrington-democratic-socialism ?

I recall reading him 50 years ago but he didn't leave a lasting impression beyond a vague notion of communitarian approval. But I could be conflating him with another figure from those days. Also a vague notion that he was closer to the liberation theology of the American Catholic Church before it became over shadowed by the Evangelical branch heresy that isn't officially called out as such. So, not my dustbin, just my recycling bin.

I haven't personally read anything by Harrington, but I do know others have, considering his role as a DSA founder.

Great explanation. Your work, like these explainers, help me understand my own ideas better.

I'm glad you appreciated it!

That's a big reason I started this style of writing. I believe a lot of people want changes to our economic and political system, but we just don't have the words to describe what we're looking for.

Speaking from experience, I didn't fully understand my political desires and positions until I started having to articulate and defend them via writing.
