I'm so glad I came across you on Twitter and found these writings.

I can't stop thinking about it.

With the numbers this show is bringing in...whew boy that's a storyline I'd rather people not be super into, withOUT analysis at least as I think there's something to be said to hate watching shows. I liked Succession but also fuck those people... viewer numbers don't differentiate how people feel about the show. Would be curious as to the numbers of people who watch this show and how they feel about the Duttons.

Right? I'll bet more than we suspect actually think the Duttons are the good guys. I really couldn't stomach the show, so I'm enjoying these essays a lot. My daughter, Nicole Bartlett, mentioned them in her substack, Problematic Faves, where she writes about Buffy and X-Files (how she saw them as a teen, and how she views them now).

Thanks for reading! Yea, it's a violent, dramatic show, so it's certainly not for everyone. Glad my writing could fill you in!

So glad you're enjoying my work! Last I checked, Yellowstone had 3x the viewership of Succession, and I really hope those folks don't think the Duttons are the good guys lol.

If you'd like more analysis, I went on the Red Room podcast to talk about these pieces. https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/yellowstone-with-joe-mayall/id458881350?i=1000548944538
