I sat down with Jordan from A Better Way 2A, a progressive pro-gun group, to talk about firearms, gun culture, and policy. I wanted to talk to Jordan for two reasons.
First, I’m fascinated by his organization, as gun groups are traditionally right-wing. Explicitly supportive of LGBTQ+ rights, workers’ rights, and Black Lives Matter, A Better Way 2A runs contrary to the politics of most firearms organizations, which I found interesting.
Second, I wanted to hear his thoughts on how we can solve issues such as mass shootings, gun violence, suicide, and other gun-related issues. I’ve found it hard to get straight answers to these questions from right-wing gun advocates, as their politics are so wrapped in nationalism and racism that I find their proposals nonsensical. Because Jordan has none of these views, we were actually able to discuss the issues and reach effective conclusions.
Regardless of your view on firearms, I suggest you listen to this episode. It’s the most sensical gun discussion I’ve ever participated in or heard. I’m sure you’ll find it informative and helpful.
