There’s nothing establishment media loves more than war and being wrong. It was stiff competition, but we found the worst takes on Trump’s Iran War. Unsurprisingly, they came from The Atlantic and The New York Times.
The Atlantic tried to gaslight us into thinking Netanyahu and Israel were “conflict avoidant,” forced into beligerency by October 7th. This is nonsense, of course. Israel’s entire history is one of conquest. The Israeli public supported the genocide, and Netanyahu has launched countless wars, invasions, and settlements for the multiple decades he’s been in Israeli politics.
In their “news analysis” section, The New York Times tried to do the same with Donald Trump, saying he finally “embraced US militarism after years of caution.” Like The Atlantic with Netanyahu, the paper of record seems to have forgotten that Trump was president once before. “Big Strong Army” has always been Donald Trump’s thing.
In both these cases, the authors are trying to find a way to frame Iran as the aggressor and the United States and Israel as the victims. They repeatedly say the US-Israel alliance was “forced” to strike Iran, the very same excuse we heard for the Iraq War.
